This weekend, every dollar collected at The Body Shop will be doubled by the company and will go towards STOP Violence Against Women.
The fundraising effort will kick off at noon on Friday at all Body Shop stores. There will be an official candle-lighting ceremony at that time in all locations to recognize the plight of abused women.
The money raised at the Whistler shop will go towards Whistlers Children Center/Library. The Body Shop will match all donations and give the money to the Canadian Womens Foundations National Fund.
Last year a $10,000 grant was awarded to the Asian Society for the Intervention of AIDS in Vancouver. Since 1994 The Body Shop has raised more than $1-million for violence and recovery programs across the country.
