A man has died after attempting a stunt on a BMX bike on the seawall near the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue reports that the victim, a male in his 30s, fell off his bike and hit his head on a concrete embankment; he then fell into the water.

Marty Allard, General Manager of Passenger Facilities, Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre, told Vancouver Is Awesome in an email that the tragic accident took place in the evening. He said that the accident occurred after, "an individual appeared to be attempting a bike stunt jumped off the third level of the seawall adjacent to the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre into the water."

The Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre is cooperating with police.

BC Coroners Service told V.I.A. in an email that it is conducting a fact-finding investigation that, "will look to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his death."
