Where: GarfinkelÕs

When: Monday, June 6

Florida punk band Against Me! blazes into town Monday night.

The pride of Gainsville currently signed to punk label Fat Wreck Chords is on their first tour of Western Canada.

The bandÕs eclectic sound has been described as incorporating elements of alt-country, hardcore, folk, and punk with shamelessly political lyrics delivered with the unmistakable vocals of singer/screamer Tom Gabel.

Before setting out on tour the band wrapped up the recording of upcoming album, titled ÔSearching For A (Rumored) Former ClarityÕ, which will be released on Fat Wreck in September, a follow up to 2003Õs The Eternal Cowboy.

ÒI think it's definitely the most epic endeavour we've ever taken on,Ó Gabel said. ÒPoint of reference, our last record was 25 minutes long and it was only 25 minutes long because we stretched the space between the songs. This new record is 48 minutes long.Ó

Also playing at GarfÕs on Monday is Murder By Death, an atmospheric metal band from Indiana, and Vancouver acoustic punk duo Blackie LeBlanc & Kytami.

Tickets will be available at the venue.
