Firefighter Ken Roberts relived his 1980s prom in an interview with Pique Newsmagazine, just in case partygoers need a little inspiration to run for prom king or queen of the night.
Pique : What your most memorable prom moment?
Ken : Sitting on the beach in Grand Bend watching the sunrise.
Pique : Who did you go to prom with? Go on, give us the dirt.
Ken : I had recently broken up with my longtime girlfriend. We had gone out for over a year, which at the time seemed like a long time. My best friend since I was about 3 years old asked me to go with her. Her name was Petrina Joanne. I called her PJ. It was great because there were no expectations and we were both able to enjoy ourselves without the pressure of a couple that is dating.
Pique : What did you wear?
Ken : A baby blue tuxedo. What else do you wear to a prom?
Pique : Where was the prom, theme?
Ken : I don't think we had one unless Cheesy High School Grad is a theme.
Pique : Were you prom king or queen?
Ken : No. I was kind of shy back then.
Pique : How are you going to do prom differently this year at fundraiser?
Ken : I won’t be worried about making an ass of myself dancing. I don't worry about that stuff anymore.
Pique : Any aspirations on becoming King or Queen? If so, why are you a good candidate?
Ken : Of course. I will probably be one of the few people there that actually graduated in the ’80s so I think I deserve it.
