Cathryn Atkinson

Cathryn joined Pique in 2012. She became the arts and entertainment editor in 2013.

She spent 15 years in Britain, where she was a staff journalist at the Guardian and Financial Times, among others. She also shot entertainment photography for The London Evening Standard, The Daily Express and Rex Features, photographing Anthony Hopkins, Robbie Coltrane, David Hasselhoff, Emma Thompson and Audrey Hepburn.

She moved to B.C. in 2003.

Her arts, entertainment and culture writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail, The Vancouver Sun, The Province, The Guardian, rabble.ca, Pique and The Daily Express. She edited the arts review page at The Guardian for four years.

Cathryn has won nine journalism awards for her work or as part of a team, including a U.K. Press Award and an International RTNDA’s Edward R. Murrow Award.

She is also an award-winning screenwriter.

When Pique won the General Newspaper Excellence Gold Award (category D) in 2015 and 2016 at the Ma Murray BCYCNA Awards, Pique’s arts and entertainment coverage received the highest marks for all newspapers in BC and Yukon, in all circulation categories.
